1. Read Module 4 study plan Cellular structures before completion of Lab 4.
2. Go to Module 4 folder and Lab 3 subfolder and view the video by Dr. Wallace Marshall, Amazing Science: Ten Craziest Things Cells Do.
3. Answer the following questions A-K using mostly your own words.
A. Explain an unusual cell feature about the round amoeba that lives on ocean bottom, Gromia sphaerica. See image to the right.

B. Explain two cell features present in the green algae Acetabularia.

C. Explain an unusual cell feature present in the Eukarya animal protist group Stylonychia and how this organism uses this feature. See image to the left.

D. Explain an unusual cell feature present in members of Eukarya animal-like protist Dileptus and how this organism uses that feature. See image on right.

E. Name the cell type used in the experiment and explain how testing was done that resulted in showing
these cells go left when given a random choice.

F. Explain tunneling nanotubes in animal cells and what cells do with these structures in mainly your own

G. The sea slug uses kleptoplasty as part of its lifestyle. Explain the general process of kleptoplasty and how this process is manifested in sea slugs. Hypothesize in your own words how the process of kleptoplasty may benefit the sea slug.

H. Explain about cells that can solve maze puzzle and identify the example described by Dr. Marshall.

I. Explain in your own words how the eukaryotic green algae Chlamydomonas use phototaxis. Include a comment whether these organisms have eyes.

J. Tell me one thing that you thought was most intriguing/impressive in the Dr. Marshall’s presentation by.

K. Draw a plant cell with the following parts labeled on the drawing: cell wall, plasma membrane, chloroplast, mitochondria, nucleus, and cytoplasm. Your drawing should be made by using the scribble tool under Insert shapes in Microsoft word. Do not use an image made by someone else. If a copied image is used then you will need redo the drawing.
