Face-to-face encounters influenced by cultural norms are the building blocks of social life. A particularly important element in social life is social status—the position an individual occupies in the social system. Social roles are the cultural expectations associated with status.

List all of the statuses you currently occupy. Write a brief description of the role expectations associated with the master status. What happens in the front stage? Back stage? What are the costumes and the props? How did you learn about these role expectations? What consequences, if any, are there from deviating from these expectations?
