Learning Outcome: Evaluate the merits of key functional areas of human resources' areas such as
organizational development, succession and workforce planning, strategic staffing, diversity training,
cultural change, and rewards and recognition redesign.
Using the Discussion Board Rubric listed below for the specific grading criteria, develop an original response
to the following:
Assume your company is developing operations in Russia and is hiring mainly Russian employees. Your
manager in the United States is embedding its U.S. human resources management practices to its Russian offices.
• Applying the Hofstede Cultural Dimensions provided in Table 15.2 on page 635, state the dimension characteristics
(meaning are they higher or lower on the scale for each) of both the United States and Russia. Include in your
answer what this means overall.
• Once you’ve identified the dimensions of each country, apply your findings and conclude whether the following
human resources practices will be successful with Russian employees. Support your answer.

♦ Individually based appraisal systems?
♦ Employee suggestion systems
Develop a well thought-out original response to the questions with a minimum of 350 words and referencing a
minimum of two academic sources (outside of the textbook) to support your answer. Each peer response should
be a minimum of 100 words.
